Dr. Sezgin Ballıdağ, Assistant Director of the School of Foreign Languages, attended the 15th Forum on Assessment Issues (FOAI-15), hosted by İstanbul Nişantaşı University on November 7–8, 2025. This year’s forum, themed “Practical Approaches to Assessing Writing Skills,” brought together English language instructors from universities across Turkey and Northern Cyprus.
The event began with a plenary talk by Prof. Dr. Claudia Harsch from the University of Bremen, titled “What does it mean to be a B1 learner?” During the one-and-a-half-day program, participants discussed practical approaches to assessing writing skills and shared their experiences in focus group sessions.
In the forum, participants were divided into five focus groups, which provided an opportunity to compare assessment practices implemented in different institutions, share best practices, and establish new collaborations. The event concluded with a joint session, where participants presented concrete suggestions for improving exam and assessment processes within their institutions.
